Winter Fauna

Magpies eat berries off the tree in front of the house. Squirrels leap and do acrobatic feats in trees across the street.

The new place is different though.

1. There are people with dogs... and more people with dogs.

A large man with two little dogs dressed up in outfits.  A man and woman, each with a dog - the colour of the dog's sweater matching the other human's winter jacket.  A runner with a dog.

Each instance seems different and I think there are more than 10 dogs in the neighbourhood.  (Though admittedly, I might just be bad at recognising the regulars...)

2. There is a girl in a pink snowsuit who slides again and again off the small snow pile in front of her yard.

3. There are snowmen, perhaps a family, a few houses down.

4. There is a "superwoman", Oliver's Mom, who shovels their corner lot (with extra sidewalks) without a jacket.

5. Inside, there are red-capped goldfish...
