Rain Day Turns Out OK

With the flood scares, a forecast of rain all day made me anxious.  But it ended up being rather nice.

We invited Beth over to visit, and despite the huge rainstorm, she willingly came.

I then put Jackie on carrot grating duty.  Such a slave driver I am!

While Paul worked, we talked and snacked -- eating muffins made from those grated carrots.

Beth always makes me feel calm and wows me with her insight.  She's known Jackie longer, and I can tell she knows her better too (the important things, not the little lists I keep).  She naturally asks the "What's on your mind?" questions, rather than the "What's been happening / what's new?" questions.  And she knew what to do when Jackie got emotional... Watching her, I felt I should have been learning.

Near 5 p.m. I leave for my yoga class.  This class (of the variety pack) was Kundalini Yoga.  On signing in, the instructor handed me a page of notes including chants. Following the sheet, we chanted and concentrated on breathing while trying to activate very specific core / internal muscle groups.  There was talk about forgiveness and visualizations.  I was mostly confused.  Rather than feeling energised (as from other classes), I left feeling irritated.  Though the weather and its effects on my head could be part of the problem -- I don't think I'll be taking another one like this.

Back at the house, Beth and Jackie were still going strong.  The brie was gone, but the conversation still flowed.  With the rain finally starting to clear, we decided to head out for dinner.

A couple of detours later (road construction) we were at Vi's for Pies.  Delicious dinner aside, we still decided to get dessert (cake instead of pie though) with three forks.

(Right: Sorry, lady, we're ruining our diets, but we're not sharing with you.)
