I'd like to think the 1000th post was of a joyful moment like this. But it could be just as well something everyday like this.
I didn't expect to make it to this number. Especially when I started writing, I was more guarded about what I saying and posting. But as the years went by, this has turned into a place for me to document my life and curate things I've found and wanted to share.
So, this is for myself, but it's also for you. Thanks for reading.

My biggest recent challenge (aside from finding the time to write), was realising I'd lost some of my notes. I was in a panic. But, is this what I needed to set me free? I'd no longer be tethered to events from over two years (or even months) ago, and instead be allowed (forced) to concentrate on what's happening now and only write about the past that was (literally) memorable...
But, I mostly felt loss. The scribbled one-liners and descriptions had helped me recreate the moment. As I wrote, I was reliving and making the memories concrete. Eventhough it's still a pared down version, without writing my memory fails me. Even photos can only do a part of the job. It was the details that told the story. And I've found there's pretty much no way I can capture the colour and brilliance of my friends (and their playful-profound-punful banter) in my words alone.
I just have to remember that just because I didn't write about it, doesn't mean it didn't happen. And just keep on going.
I do hope to change things up a little. In the next 1000 I'll work to:
- Make more connections (per Amanda F. Palmer)
- Know more interesting things (from John Hodgman below).
And then maybe one day, writing can be a part of my art.

I was wondering today if we ever really appreciate our perfect moments as they're happening, or if that only happens through looking back later. Your blog has always helped me to do that, crystallizing those moments of what I suspect will always be some of the highlights of my life. Thanks for writing. But it's already part of your art, my dear.
