I left the office Friday feeling light and happy - the great feeling of a long weekend ahead of you - and a major project finished. And on top of that: Friday Feast :)
Micah hosts. I walked in the door believing I had stepped into a storybook. A J.K. Rowling Weasley-type house - a treasure trove of little wonders to be looked at and touched (hopefully without breaking anything). I marvelled - painted walls and furniture (beyond just one colour and pattern), books everywhere (including "Gnomes" by Wil Huygen), and esquisite, eye-catching delights: here a windchime, there a minature tea set, a footed bathtub in the upstairs bathroom, dishes that I remember seeing when I was in China, a Trivial Pursuit game board painted directly on the coffee table...
I had arrived mid-Trivia Pursuit game, and Micah multi-tasked with cooking, and answering questions (and managed to trump both Ben and Malcolm). Sophie (with lovely French hat) and Dave showed up, and dinner was served.
Out on the porch as we ate, we talked about "Bleen" and "Grue", sandals with socks and sandal tanlines, how to introduce genetic defects into mosquitos, and some thoughts on taxation (it wasn't me who brought it up!). Even the porch had hidden treasures! A Rubbermaid container filled with beer - who would have thought? I drink my tea with a tiny windmill spoon - the blades which turn with a small flick. Migrating inside for dishes, we laughed through one of my latest library finds: "The Stripper's Guide to Looking Great Naked". The conclusion being, as a collective group, our "Stripper Style" was Daisy Duke (same quiz on the website). It was another night that seemed to go by too fast - great job Micah!
Next day was "Happy Birthday Canada"! Spent early afternoon with Celina and Kevin who (being much cooler than me and hence own bicyles) rode around the block in the Riverdale Canada Day celebrations. I still got a ribbon for walking - but the big reward at the end was the waterfountain / sprinkler hybrid at the community hall. Yippee! Got wet, and then warmed my feet in the clean sand (one step closer to my tropical beach fantasy). Then there was ice cream.
And in the next part, I get in the woods and was found, for a little while.
Remkes is back - rejoice!

The Weekend - mostly sunny
"She ultimately was so broken-hearted that she went into a convent, or on to the operatic stage, I forget which. No; I think it was decorative art-needlework."
~ Lady Markby in Oscar Wilde's An Ideal Husband
